‘GOD’S FEET ARE IN MY SANDBOX’ WINS COVETED ROYAL DRAGONFLY BOOK AWARD

CHANDLER, AZ (March 17, 2011) – The judges of the first annual Royal Dragonfly Book Awards contest, which recognizes excellence in literature, have spoken, and God’s Feet are in My Sandbox by Rick Anderson, won Honorable Mention in the Biography/Memoir category.

“Winning any place in the Royal Dragonfly Contest is a huge honor because in order to maintain the integrity of the Dragonfly Book Awards, a minimum score is required before a 1st or 2nd place or Honorable Mention will be awarded to the entrant – even if it is the sole entry in a category,” explains Linda Radke, president of Five Star Publications, the sponsor of the Dragonfly Book Awards. “Competition is steep, too, because there is no publication date limit as long as the book is still in print.”

God’s Feet are in My Sandbox: Faith Chronicles of a Texas’ Death Row Chaplain tells the story of God’s powerful movement to reach out to touch all who are oppressed, including the spiritually dead, the orphan, the terminally ill, the deserted, and the condemned men residing on death row. It retails for $17.99 and can be purchased at amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com, tatepublishing.com, and you can view Rick’s blog at www.gods-feet.com.

Book Review

As soon as I read the title of this book I knew it would be special. God’s Feet Are In My Sandbox is the inspiring autobiography of Rick Anderson. As a young man Anderson considered suicide. In his deep depression he drove to a pond with a Gideon Bible in his pocket and began to read how Jesus had called Lazarus from the tomb. Rick knew he was dead inside and only Jesus could restore his life. Afterward, his friends and family knew he was a changed man.

He met and fell in love with Judy. They were both fully committed to living a Christ like life. Together they served the Lord. Judy had two children previously, together they had Caleb and later they adopted Lucy Grace. They depended on the Lord and He never failed to meet their needs. Judy discovered a lump in her breast, which proved to be malignant. The cancer later spread throughout her body. I had tears in my eyes as I read the hospital scene where she asked Rick to let her go. It must have been one of the most difficult things Rick ever had to do.

Man was not meant to be alone and Rick longed for companionship. God sent Kim into his life and once again his family increased in size.

Rick felt God leading him into prison ministry. In the last half of the book he shares the stories of the men on death row. The tales of the men are heartwarming.

God’s Feet Are In My Sandbox is beautifully written. Rick Anderson has faced tragedy, hardship, and depression. Through God he not only survived, he thrived. This book is written in a conversational manner. I felt as though I were sitting across from Rick sharing a cup of tea as he shared his story with me. I’m glad I read this book, and you will be too.
